Autism is a lifelong developmental disability which affects 1 in 100 people in the UK. It affects the way a person communicates and how they experience the world around them. Autism is a spectrum condition which means it can differ a lot from person to person. Some are able to lead independent lives; however others need a great deal of support in many areas of their lives.
Canterbury Christ Church University
The College has teamed up with Canterbury Christ Church University to deliver the Diploma to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Level 5). This course sits in the Teacher Education curriculum area and is offered at both the Tottenham and Enfield Centres.
The course is validated by the Canterbury Christ Church University, which is based in the county of Kent and has an excellent reputation for higher education, particularly for teacher training.
European Social Fund (ESF)
The European Social Fund (ESF) was set up to improve employment opportunities in the European Union and so help raise standards of living. It aims to help people fulfil their potential by giving them better skills and better job prospects. The College receives funding from the European Social Fund for a number of courses and initiatives.
Green Mark Tailored Environmental Scheme
We hold a Level 1 Certificate from the Green Mark Certification Scheme
Green Mark is an independent certification body who work with organisations of all sizes promote eco-friendly practice. Green Mark assesses: waste management and recycling, waste, energy use, transport, purchasing and procurement , water use and the greening of products and services. The College has been awarded a Level 1 certificate, which signifies our commitment to sustainability and the environment.
The College has been working with Intertrain since December 2012. Intertrain specialise in railway engineering, and they offer our learners the chance to learn the right skills to get into the railway industry by offering a pre-apprenticeship in rail and a full apprenticeship in railway level 2 NVQ with a railway employer.
Investors in People Accreditation
The College has achieved the Investors in People (IiP) standard. Achieving the IiP accreditation shows our learners, stakeholders and employees that we are fully committed to developing the work of the College through our excellence in people management.
Matrix Quality Standard for Advice and Guidance
The College has achieved the Matrix Standard, which is the unique quality standard for organisations to assess and measure their advice and support services, Achieving the standard shows that the College supports individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals. People seeking careers' advice from the College can be confident that they will receive clear, accurate, impartial advice and guidance to get them where they want to be in their studies and their careers.
Middlesex University is a large London tertiary institution with a fantastic reputation. Our College has valuable links with Middlesex University for courses in Health, Care and Early Years.
Positive About Disabled People
We have been awarded the 'Positive about Disabled People' Two Ticks symbol by Job Centre Plus. The two ticks symbol indicates that we as an organisation are positive about disabled people and that we are signed up to the 5 commitments. We are an assessed and accredited member of the QAA.
The QAA safeguard the standard of higher education, and work with education providers to improve the quality of the learning experience. The College has surpassed the UK Quality Code for Higher Education which sets out the expectations all providers of UK Higher Education are required to meet. We are proud of our achievements in reaching and maintaining national educational standards, and plan to continue working in conjunction with the QAA to continue developing our high standard of education.
