“My responsibilities include looking after apprentices, liaising with the College regarding their wellbeing; any concerns come through me. I’ve been working with the College for two or three years now.

Our apprentices go out with engineers four days a week, installing, fixing breakdowns, servicing across the spectrum of plumbing and gas work. They go to the College one day a week.

Everything is working fine. There is a liaison officer at the College, who carries out regular reviews every two or three months. They look after the pastoral side.

I have been invited to the Employers’ Forum, including a presentation by a Government Minister. It was very useful, we joined in the discussion, there was a consensus on how we get more apprentices coming through the scheme. We also get to hear of new qualifications coming up. The Forum is really quite progressive - we look forward to the discussions.”
