“I’m a staff member at Kid City. I’ve been working here since November 2008, and it was my first full-time job after my studies.
I did a placement at Kid City in both years of my course at the College. I wanted to get qualified and do all I can so that I can choose the setting I want to work in. Now I know that I want to work with young children. Every day is a new challenge; you never get a day that’s the same.
I’ve always wanted to do something with caring. I’m also involved with the Waltham Forest Youth Inclusion Support Panel, mentoring young people aged 7-17, going into classrooms and attending court hearings.
Now I’m doing the NVQ Level 3 work-based training, doing the work and training at the same time. That’s what I wanted to do and it’s so far so good, very helpful. I’d choose this College any day. They are good people, trying to help you. That’s what I needed when I started and that’s what all young people need. They can be very indecisive at that age – the College helps you to know where you stand.”
