"What I like is applying what I’m learning, it's not all theoretical"

“I’ve been working at Kid City for two months, doing a 180 hour placement. I’m just finishing the first year of the BTEC National Level 3 in Health and Social Care at the College. I also did my Level 2 course at CONEL.

My plan is to work in education as a Teaching Assistant. I’m happy to have many different kinds of experience; last year I worked with the elderly, now it’s young children. At the beginning I was stressed, I found it different from being a parent. Now I am really patient, more relaxed. I’d like to work with older children next, helping them with reading, doing more talking with the children.

The course is vocational; what I like is applying what I’m learning, it's not all theoretical. I’m happy with everything; I have no problems understanding. It’s nice, being with other mothers, people like me, sharing experiences. I’m 30 years old and still manage to do a proper course.”
