We asked for more literacy support for our trainees.I’ve just come back from a meeting at the College where we raised the issue. A specific course is in thepipeline.”
Marvel Nwosuocha, Site Manager, Ashness House Care Homes

We’ve been working in partnership with The College for 20 years and I was a founder member of the Employer Forum. They're different from other colleges – they actively listen to their clients. Through this Forum we’ve set up a job exchange scheme – making sure our apprentices can get experience in different settings with different employers, like bathrooms, kitchens, so they get the full range of training. And now we’re setting up a cross borough apprenticeship scheme.”
Ed Hickey, Compliance and Partnering Director, Kinetics Group

We’ve been working with The College for 3 years now and this year we had nine apprentices at the College. Our recruitment process used to be ad hoc, but now we run a joint selection process with the ETS team. We interview together and all our applicants take the online key skills screening – which means their chances of achieving are much better.”
Mary Keane, Learning and Development Team, Homes for Haringey.

The employer turnout is very good here. The Forum is effective in sharing information, with input from employers who are investing in training.”
Vince Glover, London Operations Manager, Summit Skills SSC

The overall effect on our staff has been clear to see – staff have more confidence and communication has improved across the whole organisation. There are managers here now whose journey up through the ranks has been supported by The College's training at every step.”
Penny Robinson, Learning Centre Manager, Barking and Dagenham Council

We’re preparing for Ofsted and the training has been really useful. The staff are using their own initiative now instead of relying on me.”
Caroline Hylton, Managing Director, Kid City – services for disabled children and their parents

The best thing about this childcare training is that the young women can gain a qualification in the cultural environment that suits them – they wouldn’t attend a mainstream college. Results are excellent. We’re meeting government requirements, and it provides a feeder into our schools; the young women will be teaching within the community.”
Clara Gottlieb, Beth Jacob Orthodox Jewish Seminary College

The Employer Forum gives credibility to the whole process – the fact that you know that someone is looking, listening and taking note of what you say. They’ve even had Government ministers present to listen to employers’ issues. It’s very impressive.”
Ian Puddick, Leakbusters
