Hayfa started the second year of her National Certificate in Business at the College in September 2008. She first came to the College in 2004, studying ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and a Science Foundation Course. In between, she had been to another local College, but was disappointed with the teaching and support she got there, and with her results.
“I wanted to come to a college I could trust, and I remembered how well everything was organised at the College. There was no real support for me or my classmates at my previous College, but it’s totally different here. I know I can find support through my tutor, but there’s also lots of other information for us at induction and on posters around the College.”
“I’ve now recommended the College and my course to lots of my friends. I’ve seen the College getting better and better over the years. There are lots of services for students now and it’s a very inclusive place. The college listens to us, and there’s a real feeling that ‘respect’ works both ways between us and the staff.”
“My tutors have got to know me personally, and they always know where I need a little more help or motivation. The one-to-one help from the Careers Service has been important in getting my application for a place at university together.”
“Most of all, though, I think my whole time at the College has really opened up my mind.”
