"As long as I can remember I’ve wanted to be a police officer. I’m learning everything I always wanted to learn"

As long as Justyna can remember, she has wanted to work as a doctor or a police officer. With distinction marks across the board in the first year of her Public Services course – and a determination to score just as highly next year – she might even go on to study law or criminology at university.

“I love the course here – I’m learning everything I always wanted to learn, and it’s the perfect preparation for the career I’ve always dreamed of. The best parts of the course for me are the amount of groupwork and the visits we go on to places like local courts and the police training centre at Hendon. We also have lots of talks from invited speakers from the uniformed services.”

“Because real life experience is so important in the uniformed services, it’s helpful that our lecturers all have that experience and use it in their teaching. It means we’re not just learning dry facts or theory from books. Our lecturers make the most of the College’s up-to-date facilities like data projectors and interactive whiteboards. The library facilities in the Centenary Learning Centre are brilliant – I can honestly say I’ve never failed to get a book I needed, and I’ve almost never had to wait to get on to a computer.”
