“I’ve been encouraged every step of the way to believe I can achieve my dream career – being an actress”

Shani knows that there are two things that could be crucial to securing a career as an actress. One is a place at drama school or a university drama studies course. The other is lots of varied and relevant experience on her CV – and her course here has already helped out on both fronts.

“I’ve already been cast in a play that’s currently in rehearsal, so if that goes well I might end up putting off my drama school applications for a year while I get more experience. My tutor has told me about lots of different opportunities, and is full of brilliant advice on how to deal with castings and interviews. Also, because there’s a link to the College's video production courses, we’ve been able to get together and produce short films for real clients.”

“I do something different every day on this course – one day I might be working on an improvised dialogue and the next I might be working in a group to write and perform a short play. Because the College is so supportive of mature students, we’ve got a really interesting mix of people”

“It’s been hard work getting all of my assignments written, but I’m motivated to do them because I’ve been encouraged every step of the way to believe I can achieve my dream career – being an actress.”
