BBC London presenter and former Radio 4 producer Henry Bonsu amused a Tottenham audience with his sharp observations on penetrating and surviving the cut throat media world.

Henry and his fellow BBC presenter Darshna Soni were special guests at a recent ceremony celebrating the achievements of students who have completed an innovative media course.

The Creative Connections programme, developed by The Bernie Grant Centre, BBC London and The College of North East London, aims to address an under-representation of minority ethnic people in mainstream media.

This is the second year the course has run and it has really given media hopefuls the exposure and contacts they need to gain a foothold in the industry

Also attending the ceremony at Tottenham Town Hall, were CONEL Principal Paul Head, Sharon Grant and executives from the BBC.

Around nine of its graduates have also landed paid employment with providers such as the BBC as a direct result of the courses success.

The eight week course offers hands-on training in camera work, research skills, non-linear editing, TV and radio broadcasting and runs for 15 hours over approximately three days a week.

The Creative Connections course plans another intake in 2004. Places will be advertised in the local press and radio. Watch this space!
