Pascal Denis-Johnson was the overall winner for the Most Outstanding Student Achievement Award
Pascal Denis-Johnson, aged 21, was the overall winner for the Most Outstanding Student Achievement Award. His strengths in graphic design and imposing photography have earned him a place at Bedfordshire University. Pascal said: “The course really enabled me to follow my passion for graphic design and combine that with my love of photography. I hope to work in industry at first and go on to run my own business.
Mehmet Erk , aged 21, also won an Achievement Award and he like fellow classmate Eliana Zuluaga, aged 18, are both going to study Graphic Design at top art school, Central Saint Martin’s. They plan to specialise in Advertising. Mehmet said: “The course really challenged me creatively” and Eliana said: “It was wonderful to work with so many creative people. We were all able to bounce ideas off one another and it really helped my work improve.”
Farhia Mohamed, aged2 I, is going to the University of East London to study Architecture. She said: “I want to work in the United Arab Emirates when I am qualified. There is so much building work going on there that I will be able to work on really innovative projects.”
Stephanie Aylott, aged 20 , who specialises in comic book graphics and T-shirt design hopes to set up her own business.
Sabrina Arokium had series of striking portraits on display. With influences as wide ranging as Henri Matisse to Chris Ofili, Sabrina said: “The College taught me how to paint. The artist whose style I admire most is Georges Seurat.” Sabrina had created a series of paintings depicting her version of the Cinderella fairy tale and she sold the last one in the series on the night for £50!
Curriculum Manager, Cyrus Armstrong-James, said: “ I was delighted with the standard of work. It was really hard to choose winners. The selection process was a combination of the quality of the work, overall improvement, as well as the motivation, attendance and punctuality of each of the students.”
