  • What will I learn?This course will help you to develop a career in nursing. You study a range of subjects including nursing studies, health sciences, psychology and sociology of health, research skills, maths and English and information technology. Specific units will develop your study skills in preparation for higher education.

  • What qualifications do I need?You must be over 19 years of age and be able to provide evidence that you have the necessary background and motivation to succeed. You will have an initial assessment and interview. Some experience of the health professions is desirable.

  • How will I be taught?The teaching and learning methods will prepare you for study in higher education, and include interactive lectures, seminars and group discussions. You may also have role-plays or simulations, experiments and guest speakers.

  • How will I be assessed?Assessment is through assignments, analysis of case studies and exams. You build a portfolio of evidence, to be presented to the examination board.

  • What could I do next?You could progress to a degree in nursing (adult, mental health or paediatric), midwifery or the allied health professions.
