What qualifications do I need?You need to have a good command of written and spoken English (Level 2), be IT literate and be qualified to Level 3 in the specialist subject you wish to teach. You will undertake an initial assessment and have an interview.
What will I learn?This course will equip you with the basic skills to teach, providing an introduction to the skills and knowledge that are required to work in the Lifelong Learning Sector. Successful completion of this qualification will enable you to progress on to other awards leading to Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS). The qualification is designed to enable you to adopt an integrated approach to the theory and practice of teaching, reflect on your own previous/current levels of experience, practice and skills, identify principles of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation, develop communication and interpersonal skills and develop an awareness of the professional role and responsibilities.
How will I be taught?You will be taught in a variety of ways, using group work, lectures, practical sessions and presentations.
How will I be assessed?You are assessed through course work, assignments and micro teaching.
What could I do next?You could progress to the Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS).
