  • What will I learn?This course is for women who are returning to study with a view to taking an academic course or other vocational courses in order to enhance employment prospects. The course covers a mixture of English, maths and information technology (IT). English includes reading, comprehension, study skills, spelling, grammar, punctuation, reference skills, oral communication and personal and formal writing. Maths includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals, simple fractions, measurement, using the twenty-four hour clock and reading and drawing graphs. IT includes using the keyboard and word processing and using the internet.

  • What qualifications do I need?You will need to be able to read fluently and be able to write fairly independently with few errors.

  • How will I be taught?The course is taught in a classroom through practical tasks, discussions, worksheets, role play, presentations and debates.

  • How will I be assessed?You will sit an exam at the end of the year.

  • What could I do next?You could progress to other courses within the College and improved employment opportunities.

  • When can I start? Most courses start in September, January or February and at various points throughout the year. Courses are held at our Tottenham or Enfield Centres. Tottenham Centre, High Road London N15 4RU – nearest station Seven Sisters, or Enfield Centre, 73 Hertford Road London EN3 5HA nearest station Southbury.
