  • What will I learn?You will study the following BTEC units; How the body works, Taking part in Exercise and Fitness, Working in Sport and Active Leisure and Managing your health at work. You will also have the opportunity to gain a range of sports leadership and coaching awards, and literacy, numeracy and ICT functional skills. You may also wish to retake GCSE's in English and Mathematics.

  • What qualifications do I need?4 GCSEs at grade D-G or an Entry Level 3 equivalent, including English and maths; to come to an interview, pass an assessment and have a good reference. Progressing College students need 85% attendance and a Merit grade.

  • How will I be taught?The course consists of a mixture of practical and theoretical sessions depending on the units being delivered.

  • How will I be assessed?Assessments vary through practical lessons, observation records, presentation and assignment writing.

  • What could I do next?If you gain a Merit for the course, complete and pass all functional skills exams and sustain an average attendance of 85% you could go on to a Level 2 course in sport, activity leadership or fitness instruction. Alternatively, you could seek further training through an apprenticeship programme.
