  • What will I learn?This course is designed for students who wish to focus on working with the under-five age group. You will have the opportunity to complete literacy or numeracy and ICT skills that are useful for work or higher level study (full time programme). You will also attend a placement one day a week.

  • What qualifications do I need?No specific qualifications are required, but you will be assessed for literacy and your understanding of childcare, to ensure that you are working at the appropriate level. Literacy at Level 1 or above is needed. Criminal Record Bureau checks are required.

  • How will I be taught?There will be group activities, discussions, written assignments and practical activities.

  • How will I be assessed?You complete practical training in a range of childcare settings as part of your course. You are assessed through a mixture of assignments and portfolio tasks.

  • What could I do next?You can apply for the Level 3 Diploma for the Children's and Young People's Workforce. You could gain employment as an assistant in nurseries, schools, or early years centres.
