What qualifications do I need?You will need to demonstrate emotional maturity and be using counselling skills as part of your paid or voluntary work, for a minimum of two hours a week. You will normally have had at least three years experience of working in a paid or voluntary capacity within a related area.
What will I learn?This course is for those wishing to develop counselling skills in their work setting in order to understand and help with anxieties, become more effective in pastoral care or in personal roles.
How will I be taught?You will need to demonstrate your use of counselling skills within your paid or voluntary work setting.
How will I be assessed?You will be assessed through written coursework, assessed role plays and an external examination. This course is validated by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB).
What could I do next?The course may lead to a progression onto our BACP Accredited Diploma in Counselling (based on further interviews). Also the course may lead to further study in Person Centred Art Therapy (PCAT). The course may lead to a development of your career prospects of working with people. You may decide to go onto other courses in the College such as Care Health, Childcare, Access to Social Work, Youth Work if you have some experience in these areas.
