What will I learn?This practical course will introduce you to the full range of basic counselling skills. You will keep a learning journal. It includes the development and practice of counselling skills by active participation and group discussion. It is aimed at anyone who listens to people, gives support, and seeks to guide other people to possible solutions to problems in their lives.
What qualifications do I need?You will need an interest in counselling. You do not need any formal qualifications, but you will be required to take an English test and have an interview.
How will I be taught?The course is taught through practical learning methods - including work in pairs, small groups and 'triads'. You will be involved in self assessment as well as giving and receiving feedback with your peers.
How will I be assessed?You will be assessed through written coursework and assessed role plays. This course is validated by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB).
What could I do next?You could progress to the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills.

Most courses start in September, January or February and at various points throughout the year. Courses are held at our Tottenham or Enfield Centres.
