What will I learn? This course integrates a person-centred approach with the therapeutic use of art images. The skills you learn are then transferred to work settings. You study three main areas - theory, personal development and application. The course is suitable for anyone who works with interpersonal skills, in settings including educational, community, medical and therapeutic. No art training is required, though some background in counselling is beneficial.
What qualifications do I need? You will need to demonstrate emotional maturity and be able to use person-centred art therapy skills as part of your paid or voluntary work. You will have a minimum of three years work experience. You do not need to be good at art!
How will I be taught? You will work in small groups, practising your art therapy skills and giving and receiving feedback.
How will I be assessed? The focus is on experiential learning - you will keep a journal to cover personal development, theory and application at work.
What could I do next? You could progress to further qualifications and will also improve your career opportunities.
