  • What will I learn?The course is designed to meet the next stage of the professional needs of teachers in the Lifelong Learning sector, as well as the general professional standards laid down by LLUK. The programme will follow the newly revised national standards, and will lead to Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS), as determined by government policy. You need to have a teaching placement and be able to complete at least 100 hours of teaching practice.

  • What qualifications do I need?The Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) is for anyone working as or planning to become a full teacher in further, adult or continuing education. You should have Level 3 skills in the subject you intend to teach, though a qualification is optional. You'll need access to 150 hours of teaching practice in a recognised lifelong learning location to do this qualification. You will have a high level of skills and be working at or above Level 3 in literacy, numeracy and ICT.

  • How will I be taught?You will be taught in a variety of ways using group work, reflective discussion, lectures, practical sessions and presentations.

  • How will I be assessed?You will be assessed through course work, assignments and teaching practice.

  • What could I do next?You could progress into employment or other HE programmes.

  • When can I start? Most courses start in September, January or February and at various points throughout the year. Courses are held at our Tottenham or Enfield Centres. Tottenham Centre, High Road London N15 4RU – nearest station Seven Sisters, or Enfield Centre, 73 Hertford Road London EN3 5HA nearest station Southbury.
