  • What will I learn?These courses are aimed at developing your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills from Entry 1 up to Level 1. You will also work towards achieving an ICT qualification which is appropriate to helping you develop your communication skills. You will study numeracy and other subjects including Work Skills that will help you feel a part of UK society and operate successfully in it.

  • What qualifications do I need?These courses are for EU residents, refugees or asylum seekers who are 16 to 18 years old on 31st August 2010 and whose first language is not English. We will assess your level of English before you enrol on the course. You must demonstrate at interview that you are able to commit to a full-time programme of study, attend 100% of all classes, and complete set work to deadlines.

  • How will I be taught?You will learn in a friendly environment through the use of group activities and discussions, through presentations, games and projects and with the aid of interactive technologies as well as through more traditional methods. You will have tutorials to give you the support and guidance you need to reach your goals.

  • How will I be assessed?There will be regular assessment throughout the course leading to Speaking and Listening exams in January. If you are successful in this you will work towards achieving the Reading, Writing and Numeracy qualifications. You will also complete portfolios to achieve ICT and Work Skills awards.

  • What could I do next?If you successfully complete your qualification you may progress onto the next level of ESOL or a vocational course in college. You may decide to look for a job based on your improved English Skills.

  • When can I start? Most courses start in September, January or February and at various points throughout the year. Courses are held at our Tottenham or Enfield Centres. Tottenham Centre, High Road London N15 4RU – nearest station Seven Sisters, or Enfield Centre, 73 Hertford Road London EN3 5HA nearest station Southbury.
