  • What qualifications do I need?You will need to be at least 16 years of age and demonstrate a keen interest in health and social care. You must also show the ability to work at level 2 e.g. three GCSEs (grade D or above) including English or literacy at Level 1 or above. Criminal Record Bureau checks are required.

  • What will I learn?This course covers all aspects of working in health and social care, including lifespan development, cultural diversity, and communication skills among others. Students will study key skills in IT, numeracy and communication. You will be given the opportunity to complete work experience of a minimum of 60 hours in a health or social care setting. Practical activities undertaken in this setting link theory to practice.

  • How will I be taught?You will have a mixture of group activities, discussions some lectures and practical activities. You will complete a minimum of 60 hours work experience placement

  • How will I be assessed?You are assessed through a mixture of assignments and portfolio tasks, with a multiple choice test. You must achieve a Pass for your work experience from you placement supervisor.

  • What could I do next?You could progress to a Level 3 course i.e. BTEC National Certificate in Health & Social Care.
