  • What will I learn?This course is recognised as a necessary qualification to work in the health and social care sector. It covers all aspects of working in health and social care, including lifespan development, cultural diversity, Anatomy and physiology and communication skills among others. You will study key skills in IT, numeracy and communication and you will be given the opportunity to complete work experience of a minimum of 60 hours in a health or social care setting. Practical activities undertaken in this setting will link theory to practice.

  • What qualifications do I need?You will need to be at least 16 years of age, with a keen interest in health and social care. You must also show the ability to work at Level 2: three GCSEs at grade D or above including English or literacy at Level 1 or above. Criminal Record Bureau checks are required.

  • How will I be taught?You will have a mixture of group activities, discussions, lectures and practical activities. You will complete a minimum of 60 hours work experience.

  • How will I be assessed?You are assessed through assignments and portfolio tasks.

  • What could I do next?With an overall merit or distinction grade you can apply for the Level 3 BTEC National CertificatWith an overall merit or distinction grade, you can apply for the Level 3 BTEC Certificate or Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care.e in Care or Health Studies.

  • How would this benefit my employer?The vocational emphasis of the course and the skills and knowledge gained from placements will equip you to work in the health and care sector.
