  • What will I learn?This course is for those who wish to develop general IT and technical skills with an emphasis on networking. It will also enable you to progress to more advanced courses in computing. It covers the following topics such as using ICT and present information, introduction to computer systems, software design and web development, numerical applications, ICT graphics, networking and software installation and upgrade.

  • What qualifications do I need?You will be asked to come in for an interview and take a literacy and numeracy assessment to see whether this is the right course and level for you.

  • How will I be taught?The course is a mixture of guided lessons and individual work. You will be expected to spend additional individual study hours in the Learning Resource Centre Library in order to successfully complete this programme.

  • How will I be assessed?You will be assessed through assignments, work-related projects, practical activities and an online exam.

  • What could I do next?You could progress to a Level 3 vocational qualification such as IT BTEC Diploma or Extended Diploma Level 3 or IT Users Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3. Alternatively you may be able to apply for a work placement or paid employment as a computer technician.

  • How would this benefit my employer?The course will cover aspects of knowledge, understanding and competency necessary for employmernt within the sector.

  • When can I start? Most courses start in September, January or February and at various points throughout the year. Courses are held at our Tottenham or Enfield Centres.
