What qualifications do I need?You will need four GCSE grades D-G or equivalent, including English. You will need to have a strong interest, preferably with the desire to pursue a career in the public services. You must be willing to work within a team environment and develop your personal qualities. You must be enthusiastic, energetic and show an interest in developing a range of skills and techniques.
What will I learn?This course is ideal for those who are returning to education or who have the desire to train or prepare for employment in the uniformed services such as the police, emergency fire services or armed forces. The course includes the following units: the public services, public services skills, public service fitness, crime and its effects, sports and recreation. As part of the course you will be required to attend classes to develop your capabilities in IT and communications.
How will I be taught?Units are delivered with workshops for support on assignments. Teaching involves presentations, role plays, teamworking activities, online research and enrichment from employers.This course is taught in a classroom with an arrangement of enrichment activites.
How will I be assessed?Assignment based assessments. Some practical assessment for key modules.
What could I do next?You could progress to the National Certificate/ Diploma in Uniformed Public Services.
