What will I learn?This programme is for people already working in a diverse range of occupational groups within the helping professions and who want to develop and enhance their professional counselling skills and obtain a professional qualification. Validated as a Foundation Degree by Middlesex University after year 2 and a BA Hons after year 3.
What qualifications do I need?You will need to demonstrate emotional maturity and readiness to take on client work, and have completed a 90 hour course in counselling skills or its short course equivalent, plus three years related work experience. You will need a counselling placement of a minimum of two hours per week to complete 150 hours.
How will I be taught?You will attend lectures, followed by discussion sessions and seminars. You will also take part in small group activities to develop your skills and link theory to practice.
How will I be assessed?Assessment is through coursework, including practical sessions of counselling clients.
What could I do next?You may progress to an MA in Counselling.
