What will I learn?This course is suitable for those with a good standard of written English. During the course you will develop the capacity to express yourself effectively in a variety of speaking and listening activities, matching style and response to audience and purpose, to read accurately and fluently, understand and respond to literature from the English Literary Heritage and from other cultures and traditions, analysing and evaluating a wide range of texts, you will also be expected to construct and convey meaning in written language; using correct grammar and standard English, matching style to audience and purpose. Writing about literature is an integral part of the course and Shakespeare is also compulsory.
What qualifications do I need?You will need GCSEs at grade D including English. If you do not have these, you can take a short test at your interview.
How will I be taught?This course is taught in a classroom using a mixture of group activities, discussions and practical activities.
How will I be assessed?You will be assessed by taking an exam set by Edexcel at the end of the year and producing coursework.
What could I do next?You could progress to other courses at the College or go on to employment in a range of careers.
