What qualifications do I need?You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above, preferably including maths and science or a BTEC First in Science at merit grade. You will need to pass an initial assessment. You will also need a reference on your ability to study.
What will I learn?This course is ideal if you want a career in the field of medical sciences. It is made up of 12 units for the certificate and 18 units for the diploma. Two of the units are set and marked by examiners. The others are marked by tutors and moderated by the examiners. The qualification is equivalent to two subjects at A Level.
How will I be taught?Teaching is through a wide variety of methods which include, practicals, lectures, practical investigations, videos, role-play outside visits.
How will I be assessed?You are graded by continual assessment. This can be written assignments and practical investigations on which you will write your report. You will track your progress through the course and are in control of your final grade.
What could I do next?You will be able to progress to science employment or a degree or diploma course at university in science or medical subjects.
