What qualifications do I need?You will need four GCSEs at grades A-C including English or a Level 2 vocational qualification plus a relevant Level 2 literacy qualification. You must show a strong interest in Media and will need to provide visual evidence by either presenting a portfolio of work or completing a project set by the College at interview stage. Work/life experience of mature candidates will be taken into consideration.
What will I learn?This course is aimed at those who wish to make a career in the Interactive Media industries. This course is equivalent to two A Levels and will provide a broad based programme that will provide you with the knowledge and skills to be successful in your chosen specialism. Some of the areas of study that you will undertake are units in contextual influences, ideas and concepts in media, techniques and processes in art and design, visual communication and visual recording in media. Much practical work takes place in our specialist media facilities and the College's IT suite. You will also gain greater understanding of the Interactive Media sector and study the work of influential producers / practitioners. During course you will develop your portfolio and individual projects for your final exhibition.
How will I be taught?This Course is taught using lectures, practical workshops and through individual research. During the course you will work in a variety of studio settings and take part in trips and gallery visits throughout the year.
How will I be assessed?Practical presentations, portfolio and written assignments. This course is equivalent to 2 A-Levels
What could I do next?You will either progress to a junior industry role or to a specialist Interactive Media related degree programme or Foundation Course.
