What qualifications do I need?You will need four GCSE grades A-C or equivalent, including English. You will need to enjoy sports and fitness and have the desire to improve your own personal fitness. You must be willing to work within a team environment and develop your personal qualities. You must be enthusiastic, energetic and show an interest in developing a range of skills and techniques that will help you find a job or move into higher education.
What will I learn?This course is ideal for anyone returning to or continuing their education, or who has the desire to train or prepare for employment in the sports and leisure industry. The course includes sport in society, body in action, psychology of sport, nutrition, skill performance, ethic and values. As part of the course you will be required to attend classes to develop your capabilities in IT and communications.
How will I be taught?This course is taught in a classroom and also takes place in our well equiped fitness centre and gym. Some classes take place at the Leisure Cenre.
How will I be assessed?You will be assessed through a variety of assignments across all of the core and mandatory units.
What could I do next?You could progress to a university degree or BTEC Higher National e.g. Sports Studies, Leisure Management, Recreation Management, Teacher Training or higher education. You could gain employment in sports centres, leisure centres, outdoor activities centres.
