  • What qualifications do I need?You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A-C or an OCR National Certificate/BTEC First Diploma at merit grade and literacy and numeracy at Level 1/2.

  • What will I learn?This course is for those who want to gain a detailed knowledge of business in order to progress to university or improve their employment prospects. It is the equivalent of two A Levels and is suitable for school leavers and mature learners. You will study a total of 12 units over two years. There are four core units and eight specialist units allowing you to study business in depth in areas such as marketing, management, finance, human resources and law. You will also study practical business units such as starting a small business and managing a business event.

  • How will I be taught?This course is taught in a classroom and workshops, but assessments are completed in the simulated working environment, where real work is done by the learner under supervison of the assesor.

  • How will I be assessed?In each unit you will complete projects or assignments which are set and marked by your teachers and externally moderated by OCR. Assignments are designed to improve your knowledge and skills and can involve report writing, individual work, group work and presentations. There are also tests in Key Skills.

  • What could I do next?This course improves your knowledge and skills so preparing you for both higher education and employment. The College has progression agreements with local universities and an OCR National Diploma qualification is evidence that you have skills which employers look for.
