What qualifications do I need?You will need a Level 3 qualification or a strong art and design portfolio.
What will I learn?This course is for those who intend to study a specialist art or design course at degree level. You will study graphic design, fashion textiles, fine art and 3D during the first term before specialising in the second term. The primary aim of this course is to educate students to make informed decisions which will facilitate their progression, primarily but not exclusively to appropriate higher education in art and design. The course builds on students' prior experience. Skills already acquired are linked with ideas and challenges, which extends students' critical independence and enables them to demonstrate a full understanding of the application of art, design, craft and communication relevant to progression opportunities and career choice.
How will I be taught?This Course is taught using lectures, practical demonstration and individual responses to design briefs. Students will work in a variety of classroom settings according to the disciplines being taught. A variety of field trips and gallery visits will be conducted over the year.
How will I be assessed?Assessment of exploratory, pathway and confirmatory stages will be conducted formatively at half term and summatively at the end of each full term.
What could I do next?You will be able to progress to university.
