What qualifications do I need?This course is for post 16 students with literacy skills at, or working towards, Level 2. You must hold a full Level 2 in hairdressing or have 3 years industrial experience.
What will I learn?Barbering is a highly skilled career and there's no substitute for high quality training. NVQs are work-based qualifications and are designed to reflect the different skills required when dealing with different types of hair, client individual needs, fashion and trends. This course consists of 3 units relating to cutting hair using basic barbering techniques, cutting of facial hair and drying hair to create finished looks for men. Students will work in a modern environment with a team of highly qualified, well motivated staff.
How will I be taught?This course has practical sessions delivered in Commercial Hairdressing and Barbering salons with theory being delivered using state of the art interactive whiteboards and ICT provision to help with assignments. One to one tutorial support is provided by industry qualified lecturers with up to date knowledege of new and emerging trends.
How will I be assessed?Assessment is carried out by practical observation and oral questions.
What could I do next?You could progress to the NVQ Level 3 hairdressing course.
How would this benefit my employer?Employers will have fully qualified Barber employees and the possibility of staff going on to becomeing full Level 3 senior stylists.
