What will I learn?This course is ideal for individuals who are returning to education or who have the desire to train or prepare for employment in the sports and leisure industry. The course includes health and safety in sports, the body in sports, the sports industry, sports leadership skills, preparation for sport and the sports performer. As part of the course you will be required to attend classes to develop your capabilities in IT and communications.
What qualifications do I need?You will need four GCSEs grades D-G or equivalent, including English. You will need to enjoy sports and fitness and have the desire to improve your own personal fitness. You must be willing to work within a team environment and develop your personal qualities. You must be enthusiastic, energetic and show an interest in developing a range of skills and techniques that will help you in gaining employment in the sports and leisure industry.
How will I be taught?This is a practical course taught in the College gym and fitness centre.
How will I be assessed?You will be assessed in a variety of ways, including assignments and practical tasks.
What could I do next?You could progress to Level 3 BTEC course in sports or you could gain employment in the sports and leisure industry.
