Foundation Courses at Higher Level

Foundation courses offer an introduction to a technical or practical area. The College offers two types of foundation courses:
1. Foundation and Degree Year Zero are full-time courses that prepare students for a particular degree at a linked university.
2. BTEC Foundation in Art and Design prepares students for a Degree in Art and Design subjects at university.

Higher National Certificate (HNC)

A Higher National Certificate (HNC) is a part-time Level 4 course. The College runs a number of these courses jointly with Middlesex University. Many professionally linked Higher Education Certificates, for example Early Childhood Studies, and Health and Care Management (which are qualifications in their own right), also allow successful candidates to move onto degrees.

Higher National Diploma (HND)

A Higher National Diploma (HND) is a full-time Level 4 course. The College runs a number of these courses jointly with Middlesex University.

Foundation Degrees

A Foundation Degree is a two year vocational degree. It is a qualification in its own right, but can also be topped up to an Honours degree with just over one year’s further study.

First Degree

We run a number of foundation and first degree courses in the areas of Creative Studies, Care and Health, Construction, Housing and Teacher Education.
