"I use the College exclusively for training. I did a plumbing apprenticeship myself with Haringey Council and studied at CONEL – it was Tottenham Technical College back then. But after finishing I went into the city. I knew one of the lecturers (Mick Palmer) who later became head of department, so naturally when I was looking for a training provider I turned to him.

We currently have five apprentices. It's working well and I'm very pleased with the relationship. The College can give us advice when we need help, for example with understanding legislation and regulations. When we were doing a job with the local health authority, which was unusual for us, we needed to do a risk assessment and the College helped to ensure that we were compliant. I place a huge value on that.

They have good quality staff. They're proactive with their Employer's Forum, which I attend. They are constantly trying to get feedback on how to improve things and they have put tangible things in place to make sure that happens. The Forum provides a network of employers, for example there are contacts there from social housing. It gives credibility to the whole process – the fact that you know that someone is looking, listening and taking note of what you say. They've even had Government ministers present to listen to employers' issues. It's very impressive."
