"My assessor injects real passion into the discussions - it’s made a huge difference in my work."
“I worked in Italy for 10 years before I decided to move to the UK - there are better opportunities here. I have been a Support Worker with Ashness House since the end of February 2009. I’ve started the NVQ Level 2 course, doing one day a month, on a weekday. I should finish the NVQ at the end of August.
I meet with my personal assessor once every 10 days. It’s very useful. My assessor likes her job, she injects real passion into the discussions - it’s made a huge difference in my work.
In this kind of work there are a lot of emotions you can meet. On the course we are able to discuss the emotions about the residents, learn about personal care and the relationship with the clients. It works on the inside and on the outside – the emotional side and the practical things too."
