ABOUT THE COURSE

This fast-track AAT course is a pre-apprenticeship that has been specifically designed to prepare you for an apprenticeship in accounting. It will provide you with the skills and experience you need to get to the best possible start in the financial world and understand the foundations of accounting. During the programme you will experience visits to global firms, workshops and events hosted by CIMA, Goldman Sachs, KPMG and Bank of England, which will help you discover potential career opportunities and gain employability skills to enhance your job prospects.

Our teachers are currently planning for the safest ways to deliver this course from September. We have been delivering all of our courses online since the outbreak of Coronavirus in March 2020, and we are fully equipped to continue this for as long as is necessary. We hope to be able to deliver the course in a mixed format - blending online lessons with face-to-face teaching – as and when we feel that, on the basis of Government advice and our own risk assessments, it is safe to do so. The ratio of face-to-face teaching in our college buildings to online teaching will vary from course to course, so more specific information will be provided to you at enrolment.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above (A*C) including English and Maths
  • A reference from your previous school/college, with attendance of over 88%

All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

During this course, you will be continuously assessed through skills tests and online exams.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

School Leavers

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Many of our students are eligible for financial support when studying at college – please click here for more information.

WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

This course will lead to a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Accounting. You can then progress to a Level 4 AAT, an apprenticeship degree or employment in the accounting industry.
