CAREER PROSPECTS

ABOUT THE COURSE

This course is aimed at those looking to develop life skills as well as those who are thinking of working in childcare, covering caring for children from birth to 5 years 11 months. You will gain the skills and experience needed to care for a child, as well as personal development skills and knowledge about the development and growth of babies and young children. 

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Topics covered can include:

  • The value of a healthy lifestyle and diet
  • Communication and learning
  • Aspects of play
  • The importance of building children’s confidence
  • Human lifespan from birth to the elderly

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You do not need to have any previous qualifications.

All applicants must have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

The course is assessed throughout the year and with an end-of-course portfolio, with 150 hours of work experience.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

Aged 16-18


If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Adults - Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2


If you will be aged 19+ on 31st August prior to the start date of your course, up to Level 2, then your study with us will be free. You must have lived for 3 years within the EU/EEA/UK prior to the start of your course, you must have lived in the UK before 1st January 2021 and you must have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the first day of learning. WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

On successful completion of this course, you could progress to a Level 2 course, an apprenticeship or other employment.
