Science (Combined Science) - GCSE

A grade 4 or higher in GCSE Science is a requirement for many higher education courses and careers, including those in science, teaching and nursing. Over the duration of the course, you will be equipped with a solid understanding of fundamental biological concepts and principles across biology, chemistry and physics. Lessons will take place in our specialist science laboratories, and will combine theory lectures and practical sessions.

The Combined Science GCSE is equivalent to two GCSEs, graded using the linear 9-1 system, with examinations in June.

There are two pathways available for this qualification - Foundation Level and Higher Level.

For the Foundation Level, you will need:

• GCSE Science at grade 2

For the Higher Level, you will need:

• GCSE Science at grade 3

All applicants must have an assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

The course is assessed by six written exams, each worth 50% of the final marks. The exam questions will be a mixture of multiple choice, structured, closed short answer and open response questions.

Adults

Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE, regardless of your age or income. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips.
