Creative Media Production - Level 3 Extended Diploma

This course has been designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the media sector. You will have the opportunity to explore creative image production and manipulation, animation, historical and contextual investigation.

Your lessons will take place in our industry-standard suites, equipped with Adobe Creative Cloud on Apple iMacs, as well as giving you access to state-of-the-art cameras, tripods, green screen facilities and more. There will also trips and visits, and guest talks from industry experts.

This course consists of two separate qualifications. In your first year of study, you will work towards the Level 3 90-Credit Diploma. Following successful completion of this qualification, you will be able to progress to the Extended Diploma. Our Extended Diplomas offer equivalent UCAS points to studying 3 A Levels.

• Introduction to media processes and technical skills
• Introduction to design and research skills in creative media production
• Introduction to professional practice in creative media production
• Critical and contextual awareness in creative media production
• Investigating audio production and technology
• Investigating visual production and technology
• Investigating interactive production and technology
• Developing a creative media production project
• Characteristics and contexts in creative media production
• Engaging with an audience in creative media production

You will need:

• Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit (and Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2/GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above)

All applicants must have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

You will be assessed continually through practical project work, coursework, written assignments and presentations.

School Leavers

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE, regardless of your age or income. On successful completion of this course, you could progress to higher education, an apprenticeship or other employment.
