Creative Media Production - Level 3 Extended Diploma

This course has been designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the media sector. You will have the opportunity to explore creative image production and manipulation, animation, historical and contextual investigation. Your lessons will take place in our industry-standard suites, equipped with Adobe Creative Cloud on Apple iMacs, as well as giving you access to state-of-the-art cameras, tripods, green screen facilities and more. There will also trips and visits, and guest talks from industry experts.

You will develop the following skills:

Unit 9 - Characteristics and?Contexts in?Media and?Communication?? 

Unit 10 - Engaging with an?Audience in?Creative?Media?Production? 

UNIT 11: Preparation for progression in?Creative Media Production?? 

Unit 12 - Specialist?Study in?Creative?Media?Production?? 

Unit 13:?Extended Project in?Creative Media Production?(FMP)?? 

You will need:

Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit (and Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2/GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above)

You will be assessed continually through practical project work, coursework, written assignments and presentations. You will complete four practical projects and be assessed by portfolio. Your final project will be assessed by the examining board

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be FREE. The UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma, is equivalent to 3 A levels if completing both years. At this level you are supported towards independent study, through software workshops in Adobe Creative Cloud Apps, University Open Days, and other creative based workshops as well as guest speakers from industry. all of which, will help you, with personal development to progress to employment or higher education.Previous assignments have included: Career Progressions, Social Media Marketing, Contextual Studies in your chosen pathway, Brand Development and working on a Live Creative Brief.

You will be studying the following units:

The UAL Level 3 Diploma is set over two years. Equivalent to 3 A levels (if completing both years, the structure of the diploma is designed to encourage students to further develop their creative media production skills using industry standard software and through a range of activities that encourage transferable skills in creative media production.

Previous projects have included Short Films, Advertising Campaigns, Graphic Design, App Design, Motion Graphics, Podcasts, Gaming Sounds and Technologies..

You will study the following units:

Unit 1 - Introduction to media processes and technical skills 

Unit 2 - Introduction to design and research skills in creative media production 

Unit 3 - Introduction to professional practice in creative media production

Unit 4 - Critical and contextual awareness in creative media production

Unit 5 - Investigating audio Production and technology 

Unit 6 - Investigating visual production and technology 

You will need:

The qualification is based over 1 year and the nature of assessment is 100% coursework based. At this level you will be supported to develop your creative media practice.
