This course will help you develop the necessary skills, experience and techniques for you to become a qualified hairdresser.
You will learn practical skills for a range of salon activities, from conducting client consultations to cutting and dressing hair. The course will explore how different shampoos and conditioners affect the hair and scalp, and you will study a variety of colouring and lightening products and techniques.
You will learn how to work in accordance with health and safety procedures to ensure the wellbeing of your clients, your colleagues, and yourself. As well as working in the college's own hairdressing salon, you will also have the opportunity to do a period of work experience. You will also work on improving your English and Maths skills.

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, collected from written assessments, presentations, witness statements and practice observation.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be FREE. Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE, regardless of your age or income. The course also provides skills transferable to other subject areas such as Beauty Therapy, Nail Technology and Barbering.
