ABOUT THE COURSE

This course has been designed to enable you to progress your career in health and social care settings, allowing you to progress to further study or employment.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit (and Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2/GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above)
  • A reference from your previous school/college

All applicants must have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

The course is assessed throughout the year with practical assignments and written tests. You will receive a grade from A*-D at the end of the qualification, reflecting your performance on the course.

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Adults

Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE, regardless of your age or income. WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

This qualification enables learners to either progress to higher education, or obtain work within the local health and social care sector. Typical progression routes are:•Care Support Workers in Adult Residential Settings•Healthcare Assistants in Community, Primary Care and Acute Health Environments•Care Support Workers in Domiciliary Services, Supported Living or Day Services•Community-Based Support Workers.•Nursing, therapy, social work and technical degree qualification etc.
