The qualifications purpose is to:
• prepare learners to progress to a qualification in the same sector or a related area at a higher level
• prepare learners for employment within different roles in the digital and creative industries and in other industries that require specific digital and IT skills within Software Development.
You will be studying the following units:
Object Oriented Programming,
Maths for Computing,
You will need: Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit (and Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2/GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above)All applicants must have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
Assessment is continuous throughout the year and based on assignments and projects.

If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE, regardless of your age or income. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. This course will help you to move on to higher level courses, such as a specialist Level 3 Extended Diploma, an apprenticeship or employment.
