ABOUT THE COURSE

This advanced course will further enhance your nail technology skills including the application of light cured gel, liquid and powder to create a nail extension, electric filing, gel polish and nail art, as well as studying the science behind these services.

You will learn how to deliver first class service to customers and promote appropriate products, as well as the importance of health and safety in the salon, to help you progress your career in the beauty industry.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Topics covered can include:

  • Anatomy & physiology  
  • Applying and maintaining nail enhancements  
  • Airbrush designs for nails  
  • Designing and applying nail art  
  • Enhancing nails using electric files  
  • Working with colleagues in beauty-related industries. 
  • Client care and communication 
  • Displaying stock to promote products 
  • Promoting and selling products and services to clients  
  • Monitoring and maintaining health and safety practice in the salon  
  • Exploring technological developments with hair, beauty and associated industries

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • Nail Technology - Level 2 Diploma

All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, collected from written assessments, presentations, witness statements and practice observation.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

School Leavers

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Adults

If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your course.
