This course is aimed at providing an introduction to the sport massage industry, including common injuries and treatments. You will learn a variety of sports massage and strapping techniques. You will gain an understanding of the health and safety aspects of massage, setting up a safe and effective massage area and conducting client consultations
Topics covered will include:
· Overview of the human body (structure and functions)
· Health & safety within a massage environment
· Identification of sports related injuries
· Conducting client consultations
· Variety of massage techniques
· Strapping and taping sports injuries
No previous qualifications needed
You will be assessed via a combination of observations during practical tasks and written coursework. Assessments throughout the course vary from topic to topic, giving you a chance to showcase your development through a variety of methods.
Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE, regardless of your age or income. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. On successful completion of this course you may progress onto Level 2 YMCA Certificate in Gym Instructing, Level 2 YMCA Diploma in Exercise and Fitness Instructing, Level 2 NCFE Certificate in Nutrition and Health or any other short courses we offer.
