Our pre-apprenticeship in rail track maintenance is a fast-track course, equipping you with the knowledge and understanding to gain an apprenticeship, or other employment, in the rail track engineering industry.
Rail track maintenance workers inspect, maintain and repair railway lines and associated services. Their work includes inspecting tracks, bridges, cuttings, embankments, fences and level crossings.
Our teachers are highly experienced, and many are still operational in the rail industry, giving you the most up-to-date safe working methods and technical skills.

All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
During this course, you will be continuously assessed through skills tests.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be FREE. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. During the course you are expected to have excellent attendance and punctuality; those with 95% or above will be offered an interview with a rail employer and supported in their application, including interview skills and CV making. If you pass your interview with the employer, you will start your apprenticeship.
