ABOUT THE COURSE
This course combines theory with practical study, to give you a good understanding of what's involved in supporting teaching and learning and how you can enhance the development of a child or young person. You'll learn all about how children develop their understanding, professional best practice and how to promote learning.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
Topics covered can include:
Providing support for learning activities
Supporting child development
Keeping children safe
Contributing to positive relationships
Providing effective support to colleagues
WHAT WILL I NEED?
You will need:
- Four GCSEs at grade 1 or above (A*-G) or an equivalnt Level 1 qualification
- An Enhanced DBS check
All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Assessment is by completing a portfolio of evidence via assignments and assessment of skills is through direct observation by the assessor.
WHAT WILL IT COST?
Adults
Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE, regardless of your age or income. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?
Employement in a school/college environment as a Teaching Assistant or a Learning Support Assistant.
You could progress to the Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools programme.
