Introduction to the course
This level 3 Diploma in Gas Utilisation will provide you with the knowledge needed when undertaking gas installation or Maintenance work in properties. Its main aim is to provide you with the knowledge which will allow you to progress to an advanced level apprenticeship in Gas Utilisation with a Gas Service provider which will lead to registration on Gas Safe Register.
This course does not qualify you to be a Gas Safe engineer but it does fully prepare you for the next step in the process to becoming Gas Safe.
What do I need?
The qualification covers a range of knowledge at level 3. All units are mandatory and will cover Health and safety in gas utilisation, Scientific principles used in gas utilisation, The combustion and properties of gas, Gas in buildings, services and structures, Gas safety in accordance with legislation and regulations , Industry standards and working practices.
How is the course taught?
Study will involve both knowledge and practical work.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through both practical and theory. this will involve portfolio written tasks, written exams, and practical assessments
What does it lead to?
On completion you can seek employment as an apprentice Gas Installation and or Maintenance Engineer where you can develop the skills required to work in a number of different areas. Once your apprenticeship has been completed or enough on site experienced has been gained you could be qualified and competent in any of the following careers:
- Gas Emergency First Call Operative
- Gas Installation Engineer
- Heating Engineer
- Gas Maintenance Engineer
- Gas Distribution Worker
- Gas Service Technician
