ABOUT THE COURSE

This course offers the City and Guilds 7202 qualification, and will allow you to gain an introduction to plumbing, giving you the basic fundamental practical skills and knowledge required by someone aspiring to be a plumber. It covers all the essential basic skills and knowledge you'll need to start working as a plumber, or engineer specialising in heating or ventilation. The course consists of practical and theory assignments and training to give you a good foundation from which to begin work or continue studying.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Topics covered can include:

  • Installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems
  • Above ground drainage
  • Copper pipework
  • Plastic pressure pipework
  • Low carbon steel pipework
  • Plumbing science
  • Structure of the construction industry
  • Environmental sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
  • Site preparation in the construction industry

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You do not need to have any previous qualifications.

All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will be assessed on your completed practical tasks, against industry standards. Written assessment will include multiple choice questions, paper-based exams and written assignments.

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Adults - Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2


If you will be aged 19+ on 31st August prior to the start date of your course, up to Level 2, then your study with us will be free. You must have lived for 3 years within the EU/EEA/UK prior to the start of your course, you must have lived in the UK before 1st January 2021 and you must have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the first day of learning. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

From this course you can progress onto Level 2 in Heating and Plumbing, subject to full completion of the Level 1 and a satisfactory level of attendance.

Mario is committed to providing engaging, relevant, and differentiated learning experiences for all students while fostering a positive and collaborative classroom environment. He is always eager to learn from others, share insights, and contribute to the improvement of educational practices.


Ray Muchmore

Qualifications: Level 2 Plastering at Chelsea and Kensington FE College.

Level 3 Diploma Teaching and Learning.

Ray joined Conel in June 2022. He began he’s teaching career in 2016 for Building 1 Zone a private provider to schools in Hertfordshire mainly students that were struggling in the school environment, there he taught Construction skills a City Guilds level 1 course.2017 he was asked to set up a facility within a Pupil Referral Unit at Potters Bar working with children that had been excluded from school.

The construction facility became the most successful pat of the school getting an outstanding grade from Ofsted.2019 the school closed and Ray applied for a position at Oaklands FE College, successful he taught Construction Skills and Bricklaying Level 1 for the next two years.2022 he was offered  a position at Conel Enfield teaching Plumbing Level 1, and Level 1 Construction Skills he loves the diversity of the students at the college which creates a happy and level playing field for all students.

Ray has been involved in construction on and of since he started as a plaster in 1975 specialising in Fibrous plastering which involves making moulds for cornices and arches.

Ray also ran a successful Skateboard and Apparel Distribution Business and a Fashion brand.

Ray is passionate about construction and the methodical way you need to work for success, he believes that this has helped throughout he’s life and wants to pass this skill onto others.
